Our Old House |
We bought a house... An old house. Here's the story. |
Every project is larger than anticipated. My efforts to clean the half bath revealed corroded pipes and a leak in the basement. Our one day push to paint the attic was quadrupled once we realized how long it takes to cut into the spaces in wood paneling by hand. Yesterday we had the old appliances taken out which left us with a huge terribly damaged wall that is being rebuilt today.
So last night after surveying the work done thus far, Mallory asked “Is this house like Chinese food?” It is. No matter how much we do there’s still a ton of fried rice.
And while it’s been a little frustrating, I’m enjoying it. I love seeing the progress we’ve made and it’s the small things that make me proud - like unsticking all of the windows that have been painted shut or hauling away a year’s worth of leaves, branches and random hubcaps from the driveway.
We’ve spent some late nights and exhausted mornings, but each night that we’ve locked up and headed to the apartment the house has felt more like home.
