Our Old House

So far our work on the house has provided some small, reallly rewarding moments.  Until yesterday the kitchen had yet to be one of them.  Every step has revealed a bigger job… pulling out an old dishwasher uncovered a rotted out mess.  The mess means that we have to move forward on our plans to redo the kitchen sooner rather than later.

Last night we took on our first demolition project (see cabinet removal post below).  Once the cabinets were out, we were inspired to go for the terrible not-so decorative plastic rafters.  Some of us preferred a more calculated approach, others just wanted to “roadhouse” everything.  By the time we decided to call it a night we felt like we’d made a ton of progress, even if we did leave a huge mess in the kitchen.
