Our Old House

I would like to thank Brandon for teaching me proper mirror-busting technique and taking his first stab at drywalling.  Thanks to Ms. Yenior for spending part of spring break painting with me.  Thank you Pete and Nikole for donating the futon and Rich for being our first guest.  A special shout out goes to the miracles of acetone nail polish remover and the deals (if you really look) to be found at Anna’s Linens.

When we began this project, the goal was to make this room a functional space as cheaply as possible.  Here’s the breakdown, as far as I can remember it.

• $12: replacement piece for the ceiling fan
• $0: Drywall (leftover from previous projects)
• $45: Stencils for wall design
• $100: Paint
• $50: Area rug
• $20: Panel curtains
• $30: Molding/Trim
• $0: Futon (P&N, see above)
• $30: Throw pillows
• $0: Rocking Chair (not pictured - garbage day find)

Sometimes the cost of things gets away from us and adds up quickly.  Projects like this are a good way to save some cash and still feel productive.
