Our Old House |
We bought a house... An old house. Here's the story. |
This year I turn 30.
I have recently celebrated Rachelle’s 30th in Greece. Some friends have planned Dirty-30 trips to Vegas, a big night out at the club, bungee jumping and marathon running.
I want to have a dinner party.
Initially, the plan was to do something intimate. I imagined my closest friends and family sitting around a beautiful table in a candlelit dining room. Soft music, tasty wine and pretty dresses! Something like this…

There’s one small problem. A minor obstacle standing between me and my birthday vision… The site of this wonderful event, our dining room, currently looks like this (yes, that is another window that had been covered on the right)…

So today, these guys are here…

Doing loud, messy work with this kind of stuff…

If having this house has taught me one thing (you’d think it’d be patience), it is that nothing gets done on time. My birthday is exactly three months from today and I am not nervous yet.
The hardest part is realizing that when things fall behind schedule it is usually our fault. Once the brick guys are gone WE have to make sure the drywall happens. Once the drywall is done WE have to paint, furnish and finish the room. If this room is not ready for my 30th it’s no one’s fault but Brandon’s our own.
